His Excellency Hassan Bin AlShaikh was born in 1941 and grew up during a transformative era in the UAE's history. With a deep entrepreneurial spirit and an unwavering belief in the power of quality and integrity, he acquired Al Sahel Printing Press — originally established in 1959/60 — and in 1966 transformed it into Modern Printing Press, laying the cornerstone of what would become the Hassan Bin AlShaikh Group of Industries, a multi-industry conglomerate.
Building an Empire
Over the following decades, H.E. Hassan Bin AlShaikh expanded his vision beyond printing into paper converting, food production, retail, and more. Each new venture was built upon the same principles that defined his first business: unwavering commitment to quality, respect for every partner and employee, and a long-term vision that prioritized sustainable growth over short-term gain.
Service to Dubai
Beyond his business achievements, H.E. Hassan Bin AlShaikh was deeply committed to the development of Dubai's commercial ecosystem. He served as Vice-Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1983 to 1997, and then as Chairman from 1997 to 2000, playing a pivotal role in shaping the policies and infrastructure that transformed Dubai into a global business hub. He also served as a member of the Municipal Council of Dubai and was an active member of numerous committees across the UAE and the GCC, contributing to economic policy, trade development, and regional cooperation.
Legacy
H.E. Hassan Bin AlShaikh passed away in 2024, leaving behind a legacy that extends far beyond the businesses he built. His vision, values, and dedication to excellence continue to guide the HBAS Group under the leadership of his sons, ensuring that the foundation he laid will endure for generations to come.
